San Francisco Data Center receives green light passing audit of process and control procedures, critical to publicly traded companies.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA., April 11, 2005 – 365 Main, the Bay Area's most secure and reliable data center, today announced the completion of the internationally recognized, Statement of Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) Type 2 audit. This follows after a record breaking year of new customer wins and the completion of its ISO 9000:2000, another internationally recognized standard for “quality management.”

The Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70, Service Organizations, is an internationally recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). A SAS 70 audit represents service organizations that have been through an in-depth audit of their control activities, including controls over information technology and related processes. In today’s business environment, service organizations and service providers must demonstrate they have adequate controls and safeguards when hosting data belonging to their customers. In addition, the requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 make SAS 70 audit reports more critical to the process of reporting on effective internal controls at service organizations.

365 Main completed its SAS 70 Type 1 audit in January 2003. The service auditor in a standard type 1 report expresses the descriptions and services of controls as present, in the relevant respect of the organization's controls that had been placed in operation as of a specific date, and whether the controls were suitably designed to achieve specified control objectives. The more in depth Type 2 audit, recently completed in February of 2005 covered all activities over the period of 2004. In a Type 2 report, the service auditor will express an opinion on the same items as in a Type 1 report, and whether the controls that were tested were operating with sufficient effectiveness to provide reasonable, but not absolute, assurance that the control objectives were achieved during the period specified.
