365 MAIN PRESENTS ACE AWARD FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE TO
SAN FRANCISCO FOOD BANK VOLUNTEER
Hannah Wright Honored for 15 Years of Full-Time Service
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., June 26, 2007 –– 365 Main Inc., developer and operator of the world’s finest data centers, has selected San Francisco Food Bank volunteer Hannah Wright as the company’s 2007 ACE award winner for the San Francisco Bay Area. The company has made a financial contribution to the food bank on her behalf.
The ACE award celebrates achievement, commitment and excellence in individuals and charities in communities in which 365 Main operates. Previous recipients include volunteers from Habitat for Humanity and Special Olympics Southern California.
“The ACE award is the centerpiece our community relations program,” said Chris Dolan, CEO of 365 Main. “We created it to celebrate local citizens who work hard to improve the communities where we do business. The Food Bank is incredibly fortunate to have had Hannah Wright’s unwavering dedication for nearly 15 years, and she deserves to be publicly applauded for her work in the fight against hunger.”
Wright serves as a full-time volunteer at the food bank, contributing 40 hours of her time each week, year-round. She began volunteering there 15 years ago, making her second only to the organization’s executive director in length of service.
“I’m honored to be recognized by 365 Main and pleased to see a San Francisco-based company recognize the hunger challenge facing this city,” Wright said. “While the holiday season is a popular time to donate food and resources, hunger is a reality for the under-privileged all year long, and I hope this generous award will help raise the profile of the food bank and encourage people to extend their generosity beyond the holiday season.”
The San Francisco Food Bank is the city’s largest anti-hunger organization, distributing more than 26 million pounds of food each year – enough for 55,000 meals each day – to more than 118,000 people in need. Wright is an essential part of the bank’s operations, playing a strong role in helping the organization achieve its mission of ending hunger in San Francisco. She provides a guiding hand to new staff; a listening ear for volunteers, staff and agency representatives alike; and words of wisdom and pleasant smiles to everyone she meets.
For the past fifteen years, Wright has served as the bank’s receptionist and is the organization’s first point of contact for prospective volunteers, staff members, donors or local agencies. With more than 7,000 volunteers coming through the doors each year, she deals face-to-face with many people every day, as well as fielding phone calls and visits from the organization’s 500 nonprofit member agencies that pick up food or arrange for deliveries.
In addition to her work at the food bank, Wright has also volunteered for six years at FoodRunners and for three years at HandiCapables, serving meals on Saturdays. She also volunteers on several committees at her church.
